On 15 April 1635, the family embarked in the "Increase" for New Engalnd. He was entered in the shipping list as a husbandman, aged 55, with his wife Francis Kilbourn, age 50 and five of his children, Lydia (22), Marie (16), Francis (12), and Jo (10). The ages are considerably at variance with the baptismal records of the children. A Thomas Kilborne, aged 24, and wife Elizabeth, aged 20, had sailed in the Elizabeth in April 1634. The are corresponds with that of the eldest son of Thomas of Wethersfield but there is no other evidence of identity and if the 1634 emigrant was a member of this family he seems to have died without issue.

George Kilbourn of Rowley, MA has often been identified with the son of Thomas of Wethersfield who was baptized at Wood Ditton but Banks derives him from Stradishall, co. Suffolk and the probate records of members of the Wethersfield family afford conclusive proof that the only surviving children of Thomas were the one son and four daughters who accompanied his to this country. Walter Goodwin Davis leaves George Kilbourn unattached, appearing first as a young apprentice at Roxbury and later a "farmer of small pretensions" at Rowley.

Thomas Kilbourn was one of the first settlers of Wethersfield, CT and died before 1639 when the distribution of lands was made in the name of his widow. It has been suggested and is quite possible, that he was one of the Wethersfield men killed in the massacre of April 1637, the event which occasioned the Pequot War.

The will of "Francis Kilbourne" of Wethersfield, dated 13 Nov. 1650, gave a gown to her daughter Margit wife of Richard Lawe and five shillings to her grandson, Jonathan Lawe; 5 lbs to Richard Law in lieu of the forty shillings she had borrowed of him; to daughter Lidia wife of Rober Howar, 5 lbs; to daughter Meary wife of John Root, 5 lbs to daughter Frances wife of Thomas Uffoote, 10 lbs; to grandchild, Elizabeth Geneson, a gown, petticoat and hat; balance of her apparel to be divided between Lidia, Mary and Frances; to son John, three shirts and the rest of the linen to the three daughters.

Witnesses: Samuel Smith and Elizabeth his wife and Nathaniel Dickinson. The inventory was take 3 Dec. 1650 by Samuel Smith, Thomas Coleman and Nathaniel Dickinson and amounted to 349.08.04 lbs.
. Thomas was born before 8 May 1578 (chr. date) at Wood Ditton, county Cambridge, England. He was christened on 8 May 1578 at Wood Ditton, county Cambridge, England.1 He was the son of John Kilbourn. He married Frances Moody on 5 September 1604 at Moulton, county Suffolk, England.2,3 Thomas was present at Anne Kilbourn'S christening circa 1605 at England.4 Thomas was present at Margaret Kilbourn'S christening circa 1607 at England.5 Thomas was present at George Kilbourn'S christening on 12 February 1611/12 at England.4 Thomas was present at Elizabeth Kilbourn'S christening on 12 May 1614 at England.4 Thomas was present at Lydia Kilbourn'S christening circa 1616 at England.5 Thomas was present at Sergeant John Kilbourn'S christening on 29 September 1624 at Wood Ditton, county Cambridge, England.6 Thomas immigrated to New England on 15 April 1635.1 Thomas died before 1639 at Wethersfield, Connecticut.1
